Privacy Policy

Last updated:

This Privacy Policy describes how the Soono application (hereafter the “Application”) — available for iOS, iPadOS, watchOS and Android — handles your information. The Application is developed and maintained by David Martín Nevado (hereafter the “Developer”) as a Freemium service provided “AS IS”. Soono is designed with a privacy-first approach: your data is yours and stays on your device.

Quick summary

Soono has no backend servers, does not collect personal data, and includes no trackers, analytics or crash reporting tools. All your information — countdowns, settings and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device.

  • No user accounts, sign-ups or logins.
  • No collection of advertising identifiers, IP addresses, location or usage data.
  • No Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Crashlytics, no third-party measurement SDKs.
  • No network access for your data: the app works fully offline.

Information processed on your device

In order to work, Soono stores locally on your device the data you create yourself:

  • Countdowns (title, date and time, color, symbol, notes, options).
  • App preferences (language, appearance, notification options, Pro settings).
  • Pro entitlement state (queried from Apple/Google, see the payments section).

Storage and synchronization

On iOS, iPadOS and watchOS data is persisted with SwiftData inside an App Group container shared between the app, widgets and the Apple Watch app under the same Apple ID. Soono does not upload this data to iCloud unless you explicitly enable it; in that case, synchronization happens directly between your own devices through your iCloud account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

On Android data is persisted with Room (SQLite) and DataStore in the application's private storage. No cloud backup is performed by default beyond Android's standard system backup mechanisms, which are managed by Google and subject to your device configuration.

Notifications and live activities

Soono uses your device's local notification system to deliver reminders for your countdowns. These notifications are scheduled and delivered locally; they are not routed through remote servers and do not use push services.

On iOS, Live Activities and widgets display countdowns on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Home Screen. On Android, a foreground service can display a persistent notification when you enable live updates. In both cases, the data never leaves your device.

Purchases and subscriptions (Soono Pro)

Premium features are unlocked through in-app purchases processed by the App Store (StoreKit) on iOS/iPadOS/watchOS and by Google Play Billing on Android. The Developer does not receive, store or process payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.); the entire transaction is handled directly by Apple or Google.

The Application only checks the relevant platform to know whether your Pro purchase is active so it can unlock the corresponding features. Please refer to Apple's and Google's privacy policies for how they handle this information.

Third-party services

Soono does not integrate any third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising or tracking. The only interactions with external services come from the platforms running the app:

  • Apple — System services (App Store, StoreKit, optional iCloud, system notifications): https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
  • Google — Android system services (Google Play, Google Play Billing): https://policies.google.com/privacy

Device permissions

The Application may request the following system permissions, all optional and revocable from your device settings:

  • Notifications — for countdown reminders.
  • Live Activities / foreground service — to display the live countdown.
  • Network access — only when strictly necessary to validate purchases through the App Store or Google Play. Soono does not send any other data over the network.

Children's data

Soono is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no personal data is collected in any case, this section is included for clarification only.

Your rights and how to delete your data

Because all information is stored on your device, you can delete your data at any time by:

  • Removing specific countdowns inside the app.
  • Using "Reset settings" or the equivalent option in the settings section.
  • Uninstalling the Application, which removes all locally stored data.

Security

Data is stored in the Application's private container, protected by the operating system sandbox. Soono benefits from the encryption-at-rest protections provided by iOS and Android. Even so, no storage method is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated occasionally. Any changes will be published on this same page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Application after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
